Get involved by donating or bringing AEP to your town.

At the American Exchange Project, we believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to explore their country and discover what it means to be an American. Our community thrives on a diversity of backgrounds, beliefs, and socioeconomic statuses.

It’s essential that all students are able to participate in the American Exchange Project, regardless of their ability to pay. That’s why AEP is free for every student.

Your donation helps us build a diverse program that is accessible to all.

When you give, the American Exchange Project can…

  • $100: Sponsor a Connection

Every AEP student connects with roughly thirty other people during their trip— connections that last beyond the summer, shaping the lives of our students and the people they come to know.

  • $500: Sponsor an Activity

Whether they’re catching a fish, taking in an outdoor concert, or trying the best barbecue in town, exchange activities are an opportunity for AEPers to get to know the culture and opportunities available in their host community.

  • $1,000: Sponsor an Event

Imagine a night of fun, connection, and true reflection as locals and AEPers who would never meet otherwise share their similarities and differences. At community events, AEPers truly see what life is like in their host community.

  • $2,500: Sponsor a Student

Give a high school senior the best graduation gift ever: the chance to experience another side of their country, to learn unforgettable lessons, and connect with different Americans—all without worrying about how to pay for it.

  • $5,000: Sponsor an Exchange Manager

Exchange Managers are the glue that hold our program together. These educators are there to guide AEPers and make sure everything runs smoothly.

Bring the American Exchange Project to Your Town

The American Exchange Project is actively seeking to recruit new partner hometowns and schools. (We list both towns and schools because we can partner with multiple high schools in the same town.) We are looking to work with open-hearted folks who are eager to welcome students from across the country and to see their own students experience another side of America. We rely on a variety of local individuals in each of our towns and schools to bring this adventure to life.

AEP Community hometown teams consist of…

  • Exchange Managers

Exchange Managers are students’ main point of contact throughout their American Exchange Project journey and are responsible for guiding home students and visiting students through the Hometown Week exchange.

  • Community Leaders

A Community Leader brings everyone together for Hometown Week by identifying resources (like venues or restaurants), local organizations who want to help, and activities.

  • Host Family Coordinators

Host Family Coordinators take the lead on finding local families who are able to open their homes to visiting students during Hometown Week.
