Triangles
ADVENTURE
Triangles speak to the whole being greater than its individual sides, much like our nation’s motto: E Pluribus Unum; Out of Many, One. On exchange, our students learn that they are an individual who can stand on their own, but when placed in a group, they become part of something bigger than themselves. In short: Our adventures with a purpose teach students that they can maintain their differences while still sharing a national identity.
Circles
CONNECTION
Every point on a circle’s circumference is equal in its distance from the center. This our mission of creating a more connected America. During their exchanges, our students create connections across lines of racial, economic, and ethnic difference both on their Travel Week and their Hometown Week—an opportunity they may have never had if they had never participated in exchange.
Squares
HOMETOWN PRIDE
Squares have four equal sides and four equal angles. They are the building blocks on which the social innovation that is American Exchange Project relies: Every town has buildings, art installations, and host family homes that bring other parts of America to life for our students, embodying our motto of “Discover a new town, rediscover your own.”
