Your gift gives us the flexibility to support the evolving needs of students, strengthen our host communities, and expand our program to even more young people across the country.

Together, we’re creating a more connected America.

Meet the Impact Partners Who Are Driving Change

  • The Hearthland Foundation

The Hearthland Foundation is American Exchange Project’s cornerstone partner. Their early leadership has funded core programs and built our organizational foundation. That investment has powered our growth and sustainability, and with their continued accompaniment, we’re poised to reach thousands more students and communities nationwide.

  • Carnegie Corporation of New York

Carnegie’s first-ever joint Democracy + Education grant supports the American Exchange Project’s goal of cultivating generations of young Americans who live and lead with empathy, curiosity, and civic purpose. Together, we’re proving that domestic exchanges are not just an opportunity to travel, they are democracy in action.

  • The Bezos Family Foundation

The Bezos Family Foundation believes in the limitless potential of young people. Through their continued partnership, the Foundation supports the backbone of our work: Exchange Manager training and impact evaluation. These investments strengthen every exchange and ensure students grow into connected, compassionate, civically-engaged citizens.

  • The Ibis Group

The Ibis Group powers the growth of the American Exchange Project. They champion our work in more ways than one: strengthening our marketing and communications channels, amplifying our mission, opening doors to new partners, and advising on strategy as we build a national movement.

  • Michael and Lori Milken Family Foundation

For more than 40 years, the Milken Family Foundation has strengthened the teaching profession, elevated outstanding educators, and inspired creativity and lifelong learning. Their support of American Exchange Project is an extension of that vision: helping students nationwide learn from one another, build civic purpose, and grow into leaders who strengthen their communities.

  • Stand Together Trust

Stand Together Trust believes real change comes when people are trusted to solve the problems around them. They back social entrepreneurs who address root causes of our country’s biggest problems—from education to the economy to toxic division, among dozens of other pressing issues. Their partnership helps power the American Exchange Project, giving students the chance to explore new communities and return with agency, empathy, and the tools to drive change at home.

  • Robert R. Glauber

As cofounder and founding board member of American Exchange Project, the late Robert R. “Bob” Glauber was a steady force behind our mission and growth. A renowned economist and public servant, he led with rigor and integrity and believed citizenship is learned by listening first and meeting people across differences. In one of his final projects, he devoted his counsel and generosity to building American Exchange Project. We honor Bob every time a student crosses the country to discover common ground and returns home carrying those civic habits into daily life.

  • Paul Solman

As cofounder of American Exchange Project and Chair of the Board, Paul Solman has been a guiding force in the organization’s vision and growth. An award-winning journalist and educator, he has long championed the importance of economic and civic literacy in a healthy democracy. His leadership, generosity, and tireless commitment to creating a more connected America laid the foundation for our success and continue to inspire others to join the journey.
